Into Her Power: The Melbourne Event Reframing Menopause
For decades, Australian women were expected to quietly get on with menopause. Now, things are changing.
Menopause has long been under discussed, misunderstood and, for many women, a source of shame. But that conversation is finally shifting. The federal government has launched its first National Menopause and Perimenopause Awareness Campaign, backed by a $792.9 million women’s health package – a significant signal that menopause is no longer something that can be treated as a private women’s issue.
Off the back of this conversation comes Into Her Power, a new Melbourne event designed to give women the information, tools and community to navigate perimenopause, menopause and beyond.
Taking place at the historic Abbotsford Convent, the one-day immersive experience brings together leading women’s health and wellbeing practitioners for a day of education, movement, healing and connection.
Rather than framing menopause as something women simply need to manage quietly, Into Her Power approaches it as a significant life stage – one that deserves better information, open conversation and a more holistic understanding of women’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
The day’s program brings together a diverse group of practitioners and perspectives. Pharmacist, nutritionist and menopause educator Sarah Gray, author of It’s Not You, It’s Perimenopause, will unpack the hormonal changes occurring throughout perimenopause and menopause, helping women better understand what is happening in their bodies.
Dr Anny Fodor, a Doctor of Chinese Medicine with more than 30 years’ experience working with women, will explore Chinese medicine and feminine embodiment practices, offering another perspective on navigating the physical and emotional changes of this stage.
The experience then moves beyond education into the body, with Vickie Liew guiding participants through yoga, Qigong and mindful movement, while leading Australian sound healing practitioner Tanya Alijani creates space for rest, regulation and nervous system reset.
There will also be nourishment, ritual and time to connect – recognising that sometimes the most powerful part of navigating a major life transition is simply realising you aren’t the only one going through it.
This isn’t a traditional health seminar. It’s part education, part embodied practice, part ritual and part community gathering – designed to leave women with a deeper understanding of their changing bodies and a stronger sense of connection to themselves and each other. Because we have whispered about menopause for long enough – it’s time the conversation is moved out in to the open.
The timing feels significant. As Australia begins to have a much bigger public conversation about menopause, Into Her Power reflects a growing appetite for experiences that move the discussion beyond symptoms and medical appointments and into everyday life.
