Walk Safely to School Day

Walk Safely to School week campaign for 2024 will be kicking off across Melbourne and Australia again next month!

This year, primary school aged children across Australia will make these important steps towards a healthier future, by participating in National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 10 May 2024.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the National Walk Safely to School Day, championed by the Pedestrian Council Australia, we’re asking you to save the date and spread the word. Encouraging communities to get involved, reducing car dependency, and encourage parents and carers to walk more, reducing dangerous traffic congestion around schools.

Friday 10 May 2024
In all primary schools across Australia

This national initiative aims to encourage children to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle by simply including a walk at the beginning, at lunchtime and at the end of each day. The event also promotes reduced car-dependency, greater use of public transport, cleaner air, improved diets and road safety to primary school children throughout Australia.

Encourage children to build regular walking in their daily routine by walking to, during, and from school
