SUMMARY:The Enormous Radio
DESCRIPTION:An uncanny audio encounter with the animal world. \n  \nPRESENTED BY THE SUBSTATION\, CHAMBER MADE & MELBOURNE FRINGE \nChamber Made’s The Enormous Radio is a new large-scale immersive audio experience by artists Roslyn Oades and Bob Scott with collaborators. A ring of old radios replete with glowing dials\, crackling speakers and twitchy antennas fill The Substation Main Space. This strange hive has been hacked\, revived and repurposed to operate as an interconnected machine-medium capable of seeking\, receiving\, translating and transmitting uncanny messages from the animal world. \nDrawing on Australian wildlife field-recordings\, spatialised composition\, translation software\, and techno-spiritualism\, the installation conjures haunted transmissions that speculate on the possibility of interspecies communication. As acoustic ecologists make breakthroughs in deciphering animal languages\, this work asks: what if we could tune into the non-human\, the endangered\, and the wild? What might they say? \nIn the time of human-made climate emergency\, The Enormous Radio stokes our longing to connect and tune into the unknown and the wild. \nAt the heart of this project is an ongoing collaboration between innovative documentary theatre maker Roslyn Oades and internationally acclaimed sound artist Bob Scott\, whose combined skill set spans documentary\, sound design\, composition\, expanded theatre\, installation and immersive design. Their previous theatrical installation experience\, The Nightline\, was presented by Malthouse Theatre in August 2026. On The Enormous Radio they are joined by creative technologist Kevan Atkins\, production designer Jenny Hector and text dramaturg Sarah Walker. \n

SUMMARY:Into Her Power - A Day of Wisdom\, Healing and Reconnection
DESCRIPTION:Into Her Power: The Melbourne Event Reframing Menopause\nFor decades\, Australian women were expected to quietly get on with menopause. Now\, things are changing. \nMenopause has long been under discussed\, misunderstood and\, for many women\, a source of shame. But that conversation is finally shifting. The federal government has launched its first National Menopause and Perimenopause Awareness Campaign\, backed by a $792.9 million women’s health package – a significant signal that menopause is no longer something that can be treated as a private women’s issue. \nOff the back of this conversation comes Into Her Power\, a new Melbourne event designed to give women the information\, tools and community to navigate perimenopause\, menopause and beyond. \nTaking place at the historic Abbotsford Convent\, the one-day immersive experience brings together leading women’s health and wellbeing practitioners for a day of education\, movement\, healing and connection. \nRather than framing menopause as something women simply need to manage quietly\, Into Her Power approaches it as a significant life stage – one that deserves better information\, open conversation and a more holistic understanding of women’s physical and emotional wellbeing. \nThe day’s program brings together a diverse group of practitioners and perspectives. Pharmacist\, nutritionist and menopause educator Sarah Gray\, author of It’s Not You\, It’s Perimenopause\, will unpack the hormonal changes occurring throughout perimenopause and menopause\, helping women better understand what is happening in their bodies. \nDr Anny Fodor\, a Doctor of Chinese Medicine with more than 30 years’ experience working with women\, will explore Chinese medicine and feminine embodiment practices\, offering another perspective on navigating the physical and emotional changes of this stage. \nThe experience then moves beyond education into the body\, with Vickie Liew guiding participants through yoga\, Qigong and mindful movement\, while leading Australian sound healing practitioner Tanya Alijani creates space for rest\, regulation and nervous system reset. \nThere will also be nourishment\, ritual and time to connect – recognising that sometimes the most powerful part of navigating a major life transition is simply realising you aren’t the only one going through it. \nThis isn’t a traditional health seminar. It’s part education\, part embodied practice\, part ritual and part community gathering – designed to leave women with a deeper understanding of their changing bodies and a stronger sense of connection to themselves and each other. Because we have whispered about menopause for long enough – it’s time the conversation is moved out in to the open. \nThe timing feels significant. As Australia begins to have a much bigger public conversation about menopause\, Into Her Power reflects a growing appetite for experiences that move the discussion beyond symptoms and medical appointments and into everyday life. \nInto Her Power\n📍 Abbotsford Convent\, 1 St Heliers Street\, Abbotsford VIC\n📅 Saturday October 3 or Saturday October 17\, 2026\n⏰ 9.30am–4.30pm\n🎟️ Early Bird tickets from $349\n🌐 consciouskinship.com.au/into-her-power

SUMMARY:Roisin McAlinden - Fairytale: Ending
DESCRIPTION:A funny feminist anti-fairytale.\n\n\nIf you’ve come here looking for happily ever after\, you’ve come to the wrong place. Fairytales turned Roisin into a damsel in distress. This is her revenge. \n‘Like catching up with a brutally honest\, very funny friend’ ★★★★★ – On The House \nA rallying cry to women to tell their own stories\, reclaim their narrative\, and be the “crazy ex” they wish to see in the world. \nUsing sharp\, feminist and excruciatingly dark humour\, Roisin McAlinden processes the end of a coercive relationship by tearing apart the fairytales that convince women to shrink themselves in pursuit of love. But what if fairytales could serve a different purpose? \n‘A magical storyteller’ ★★★★ – Fringefeed \n‘A talented writer. Her material is excellent’ – Australian Stage \nDirected by award-winning clown and scriptwriter Penny Greenhalgh.

SUMMARY:The High Kings The Rocky Road Tour 2026
DESCRIPTION:A Celebration of Irish Folk on a Global Stage \nIreland’s leading folk group\, The High Kings\, are set to excite fans once again with the announcement of their Rocky Road Tour 2026. \nAs global ambassadors of Irish heritage and storytelling\, The High Kings have consistently brought the timeless tradition of folk music to audiences worldwide\, earning them chart-topping success and widespread acclaim. \nWith their signature blend of classic tradition and modern edge\, The Rocky Road Tour promises to be a vibrant showcase of Irish culture\, energy\, and musicality. \nFollowing a record-breaking 2024 – including a sold-out world tour\, a feature on Disney’s critically acclaimed Only Murders in The Building\, and over 5 million weekly streams – the band are showing no signs of slowing down. Their momentum continued in 2025 with a string of sold-out U.S. tour dates\, culminating in a headline performance at the legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles on March 23rd\, after stops in Kansas\, Nashville\, St. Paul\, St. Louis\, New York\, New Hampton\, Glen Ellen\, Ridgefield\, Alexandria\, and more. \nBut it was their inclusion on the soundtrack of Sinners—the current #1 movie worldwide\, starring Michael B. Jordan and directed by Ryan Coogler—that marked a defining moment in their global recognition. The film’s soundtrack\, already topping international streaming charts\, was curated by Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Ludwig Göransson (Oppenheimer\, The Mandalorian\, Black Panther)\, a long-time admirer of The High Kings’ distinctive vocal blend and musicianship. \nAfter attending their sold-out show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles earlier this year\, Göransson selected two tracks—“The Rocky Road to Dublin” and “Go Lassie Go”—to feature prominently in the film’s score.

Back to the 90’s has exclusive use of both levels\, including the city-view rooftop. Doors open at 8:00 PM on Saturday 10 October 2026\, with the event continuing until 1:00 AM on Sunday morning.
