END TO A BEGINNING

14th August @ 10:30 am - 25th August @ 5:00 pm AEST

Latest exhibition from artist BLOKK

Immerse yourself in BLOKK’s latest show ‘End to a Beginning’.  With his love for line work, BLOKK has created large canvases, with unique brightly coloured patterns; where you can get lost in the line work.

About the show

Ian (BLOKK) started out as a signwriter; back in the day, when it was all done by hand.

He has always had a love for lettering and line work; which naturally drew him into the world of comic book and pop art.  To date all of BLOKK’s previous shows have been based around these themes.  He likes to take iconic pop culture references and flips them around; turning them into something new and making them his own.

BLOKK’s latest show ‘End to a Beginning’; he has branched out to do something new.  Creating works all done by hand; relying on his eyes and not using measurements (a homage to his signwriting days).  He wanted them to have a freedom and fluidity about them, a hand drawn feel but without loosing the accuracy of the line work.

Working purely with lines and shapes, painted on large canvas, BLOKK has created immersive brightly coloured patterns; where you can get lost in the line work; where did the margins come from?

These works were inspired by conversations with one of his daughters, Isabella.  They would spend hours together chatting, while drawing patterns and colouring them in.
